27th November christmas celebrations….

By | | No Comments

Another successful night …
Our Christmas Fayre was a night to remember…. the room was full too bursting…. We hopefully did Thornley proud …the prizes flew in on the last few days from the community and high standards / commitment continued in how all the prizes were presented….
The prizes all  looked a million dollars under the christmas tree…and I think people went home with many full christmas stockings, treats and hamper boxes of surprises.
The stall holders were very much part of our night offering stalls to wander around and enjoy …  We send a big thank you to all stall holders…..hopefully they were well fed and some were lucky and won bingo prizes…
We think 130 – 150 people attended … all seats taken…. there was a great atmosphere… it was a time for us all to relax and join in with family during the bingo…
Yet again we really had  great support for our fundraising event…  Thornley spirit was again present and we are please to say still growing…
We offered the bingo tickets free / included within the entrance ticket alongside a delicious hot supper. This was a gift  for all for the support we have had throughout the year.
And we still made  £1,300 profit  on the night …..;)
Uncle Richard and the bingo team got the night going and we thank them for their expertise… and i have never seen Thornley so quiet… eyes down and all that…
Ferraris were accommodating, tables appeared, and the room grew to meet our demands… it was great to see all the bar staff doing their bingo cards….
A big thank you for everyones support in helping us bring 2013 to a close with a great fundraising night…
So….
With the lease contract soon to be signed….and with money in the bag… we can safety say that the Thornley School is soon to be looked after and renovated for us all too use and enjoy…
We now wish you all a lovely happy christmas and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2014.
 Next year is awaiting …

Charity Status achieved…..

Great news…. Our status as a registered charity has now been confirmed.

This will help us hugely in applying for grant funding, monies, donations and progressing with the lease arrangement.

We are therefore pleased to report we are in the latter stages of completing the Lease with the Parish Council.

We would like to acknowledging the kind ongoing offer of assistance with the Lease from Vincent the Solicitors to both the Parish Council and Thornley Community Space team.

We are already exploring options of available grants and monies for community projects such as ours. Only this week we were notified that one application, has been successfully accepted to progress to the next stage of being considered for what could be a substantial amount of funding…

Thornley Parish Council AGM

Positive moves…..

Thornley Community Space have been invited  to attend the Parish Council Annual General meeting on  the 17th June 7.30pm. ( poster outside the Derby Arms)

This should be a positive meeting as we are please to confirm that a draft of the lease has been drawn up kindly by Vincents the Solicitors after discussion with both ourselves and the PC.

We have submitted the application to start the process for the Thornley Community Space / Old Thornley School to be managed as a  new charitable organisation, and the draft constitution for the CIO, as a step to being able to finance the building development through funding grants and bank account, and an appropriate management framework of Trustees.

The feasibility study made great headway at our promotional stall at Chipping Steam Fair but we have also sent more feasibility forms out to all on the growing email list too… We do not want to miss anyone as everyones views / ideas are important for what you want from this Community Space.

Your feedback is valuable and will contribute to how  the project / Thornley School is developed.

Lets all get involved…
