The Thornley Community Space Charity Trustees are please to share - after completing phase one of the renovation of the Old Thornley School we can now open the building as Thornley Village Hall. We are planning for it to be a gradual opening process starting with a variety of Thornley Community Space small community events over the spring and summer. This will give us chance to adjust to running a Community venue and to look how best to use parking space etc etc.
These are just some of the events coming…..
Domino Drive - We are hoping to start a fortnightly run Domino Drive – it will be on a Monday evening at Thornley Village Hall
We are just wanting to find out if enough people are interested – We have therefore started a list of names including either a contact email address or telephone contact for communication of the start date. – office@thornleycommunityspace.org to express your interest and be placed on the contact list. We will then keep you informed / updated…..
Thornley History Society - New development - We are hoping to set up a Thornley History society. We have already had much interest to both, sharing history about Thornley and to help run events including Talks / presentations and open history sharing days. If interested to attend or to help organise /setting up and running of this group . Thornley Community Space charity email - office@thornleycommunityspace.org
A must to watch this space. One of the first presentations will be on the History of Lee House Church . All events will require advanced booking as places will be limited due to the capacity at the school / parking.
Jubilee celebrations – The parish council have made us aware of possible available grant for community jubilee events – we are in the process of seeking further information and will keep you updated. It could involve baking a cake …… and eating it too..
Gardening – help needed to maintain the two small lawns and weeding roadside / carpark area – all offers welcomed – please email if interested office@thornleycommunityspace.org . We have in the past arranged group gardening days and got the kettle on…
Phase two of the renovation to the building will be completed when funds / grants are sought but in the meanwhile part of the building is open for small community events or meetings..
We hope to keep the blog updated … so watch this space
